Delivering Quality and Comfort: A 10-Bedroom Extension for Fewcott House Nursing Home

The Design

When designing and fitting out spaces within a care home, every detail matters.  From the outset, we worked closely with Fewcott House to ensure the new extension seamlessly blended with the existing environment while enhancing the experience for both residents and staff.  The design focused on creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere, incorporating soft but bold colour schemes and fabric choices, ample natural light, and comfortable yet durable furnishings.  Each of the ten bedrooms was carefully considered to support residents’ needs, offering accessibility, safety, and ease of use.

The Durability

A care delivering environment demands materials and finishes that not only look good but can withstand daily use. We selected high-quality, robust materials to ensure long-term durability while maintaining a homely feel.  From heavy duty yet aesthetically pleasing wall coverings to specialist healthcare flooring that supports infection control, every element was chosen with longevity and functionality in mind.

The Delivery

One of the most critical aspects of this project was carrying out the work within a fully operational care home.  Minimising disruption and keeping everyone safe was our top priority.  We developed a phased construction plan that allowed daily operations to continue smoothly while keeping residents comfortable.

Effective communication was key.  We maintained close collaboration with the management team at Fewcott House, ensuring that staff were always informed of our progress and any necessary adjustments to the work schedule.  Our team was trained to work with sensitivity, ensuring noise, dust, and movement were kept to an absolute minimum.  By taking these careful measures, we were able to complete the fit-out efficiently while maintaining a calm and reassuring environment for residents.
